Hallux valgus: legends and truths
Abstract
The authors describe hallux valgus disease and the most likely causes that give rise to this mysterious condition full of “legends and truths” accumulated over time. They state that the treatment of this condition is surgical and that there is no indication for the use of bandaging or orthopedic orthosis. Furthermore, they emphasize that the surgery must be comprehensive, addressing both bone deformities and soft tissues.
